Glucosamine occurs naturally in the body, but it is hard to find in the diet. We produce less as we age, so it’s a popular supplement among older people. It’s an amino sugar which is found in our joints, and is an essential part of the joint tissue. It’s also vital to maintain cartilage, tendons and ligaments.
Naturally, it is found in seashells, but our vegan source comes from a fungus called Aspergillus niger. Most glucosamine supplements on the market are not suitable for vegans, or are made in laboratories.
